Things are going better and better. I wouldn't have thought such rapid progress was possible yesterday. The craving for nicotine — or rather, the withdrawal symptoms — are already almost gone today, on the second day without nicotine replacement. I'm firmly convinced that by tomorrow, Sunday evening, the worst will be behind me.
It was very important to me to get away from the replacement products as quickly as possible. The gradual withdrawal would have taken 2–3 weeks. This way it's just 2–3 days of being in a bad mood, and then it's done.
The habit of automatically thinking about smoking after finishing a task or, for example, after eating is still very strong. But that has nothing to do with the nicotine addiction. It will take weeks and months for these habits to rewire themselves in the brain.
As expected, my diet is suffering a little this weekend. I'm using it somewhat as a pressure valve during the nicotine withdrawal. I'll definitely be paying more attention to my diet again next week.
